Getting started with Akwa

Akwa is a fashion design studio for people who want a tailor-ready brief for any garment they imagine. You pick a wearer, garment family, style origin, fabric, trim, and occasion. Akwa returns a full design brief with construction logic, fabric handling, fit notes, and an editorial render. You take the brief to your tailor, and what arrives is what you pictured.

This guide walks you through your first design from sign-in to download.

Step 1. Create your account

Go to akwa.design/sign-up on web, or open the iOS or Android app. Sign in with email or with Google or Apple. The free tier lets you explore the design generator, browse the Catalogue, and see a few sample briefs before you decide on a plan.

Step 2. Open the design generator

Tap "Design something new" on the home screen. The wizard guides you through six structured choices: wearer, garment family, style origin, fabric, trim, and occasion. There is no fashion vocabulary required. If you do not know what something is, the picker shows examples.

Step 3. Review your design

Once the wizard completes, Akwa returns three artefacts:

  1. The render. An editorial image of your design on a model that matches the wearer profile, against an origin-native backdrop.
  2. The Tailor Brief. The full construction document. Cutting guide, fabric handling, drape and structure, neckline and sleeve architecture, embellishment placement, and finishing sequence.
  3. The Cultural Design Breakdown PDF. A wearer-facing dossier covering identity, silhouette logic, cultural references, colour intelligence, embellishment language, and styling ritual.

Step 4. Take it to your tailor

Download the Tailor Brief PDF and the Cultural Design Breakdown PDF. Hand both to your tailor or atelier. They have everything they need to build the garment without a back-and-forth.

If you do not yet have a tailor, the Akwa Tailor Directory (in development) will surface vetted ateliers in your region.
