What you receive
- A full tailor-ready brief per design. Panel layout, fabric guidance, notions, construction sequence, colour direction and fit intent, in the form a tailor works from.
- Fabric and sourcing guidance for every design in the commission.
- Designs that stay yours. Commissioned designs are never listed in the Akwa catalogue, so your market window is protected.
- Priority delivery on Signature, and production-question support on Collection.
IP and exclusivity
Every Akwa Studio commission is created for you alone. It is never listed in the Akwa catalogue and never offered to any other party. You choose the rights structure, and it is agreed in writing before work begins.
- Exclusive commercial licence. You hold sole commercial rights for the term agreed at commission. Akwa retains ownership, and the copyright, trademarks and moral rights stay with Akwa.
- Full IP buyout, from EUR 2,000. Ownership of the design transfers to you. From EUR 2,000 per commission, subject to agreement, because a buyout ends Akwa's ability to reuse or reference the work. Agreed in writing before work begins.
Unless a full buyout is agreed, the underlying copyright, trademarks and moral rights in the design remain with Akwa. Licence reference format: AKWA-LIC-YYYY-NNNNNN. Full terms in the Terms of Use.
How a commission runs
- Submit your brief. Your brand, category, collection size, and any references. Takes about three minutes.
- Akwa designs for your market. The 6-axis cultural design system generates designs built for your audience, across Nigerian, West African, Gulf, Turkish, South Asian, modest and diaspora registers.
- You receive tailor-ready briefs precise enough to hand a maker for sampling and quotation.
- Your designs stay exclusively yours. Nothing from your commission enters the public catalogue.
Akwa reviews your brief and responds within 48 hours with next steps and pricing confirmation.
Who commissions Akwa Studio
Fashion brands, boutiques, emerging labels and retailers who need a culturally precise collection faster than a traditional design cycle allows, and who already have a maker or want help finding one. Akwa specifies the garment; your maker makes it. Akwa is not a factory.
