Why my render looked different
Sometimes the render comes back close to your vision. Sometimes it lands further away. Both are normal. This page explains why and what to do.
What the render is and isn't
The render is an editorial-grade illustration of your design intent. It is the visual artefact of the brief. It is not the only artefact, and it is not where the build happens.
The Tailor Brief PDF is what your atelier works from. The render is a reference image that helps everyone (you, the tailor, the buyer) align on intent. If the render is close enough that the brief reads correctly, the garment will be faithful.
Common reasons a render lands off
- Brief was loose: fewer specifics in (wearer, garment, fabric, trim, occasion), wider variability out. Tighter brief, tighter render.
- Cultural register wasn't pinned: if you picked a generic origin or skipped it, the render can drift toward the most editorial reading the model knows. Fix: pick a specific style origin.
- Fabric and silhouette didn't match: a sculptural silhouette in a fluid fabric will collapse. Pick fabrics that hold the silhouette intent. See Choosing fabrics.
- Embellishment was over-asked: every additional trim adds noise. Three to five trims maximum tend to read cleanly.
- Provider variance: Akwa routes across multiple AI providers. Each has a slightly different visual signature. Re-rendering can land somewhere stronger.
What to try
- Re-render the design (the wand button on the result screen). Same brief, fresh attempt. Often closes 80% of the gap on a second try.
- Tighten the brief: fewer trims, narrower fabric pick, more specific style origin.
- Try Fashion Forward mode if you want a more editorial reading. Try Trust Mode if you want a quieter, less interpreted render.
- Edit the brief directly. The Tailor Brief is editable on your design page; tighten the construction language and re-render.
When the render is far off
If you have re-rendered three times and the result is still far from your vision, the brief likely needs structural rework. Email hello@akwa.design with your design link and a one-line description of what you wanted. The founder can adjust your brief inputs and regenerate; this is part of the founding-period support.
